Andreas Siekmann:
„Bilder und Blockaden – Diskussion über Kunst, Ökonomie, Politik und
den aktuellen Studierendenwiderstand in Frankfurt/M.“

Dienstag, 27. Juni, 19h, Aula

Andreas Siekmann, geboren in Hamm, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. In
seiner Arbeit beschäftigt er sich schon seit vielen Jahren mit sozialen
und politischen Themen regional und international, wie z.B. mit der
Ausstellung „Ex Argentina. Schritte zur Flucht von der Arbeit zum Tun“
in Köln, 2004. Ökonomie, Politik und Kunst waren auch Thema bei seiner
Zusammenarbeit mit Park Fiction in Hamburg oder auch bei den in Kassel
gezeigten Plakaten zur Documenta11. In Frankfurt hatte er zuletzt 1999
im Portikus die Einzelausstellung "Aus: Gesellschaft mit beschränkter
Haftung."

Yves Weinand (*1963) is guest professor for building construction at
the L`École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and runs his own office
“Bureau d´Etudes Weinand in Liège. Structural engineers and architects
of the bureau d’Etudes Weinand work on close interdisciplinary
approaches with architects, develop integrated concepts and apply new
technology:
 
“In recent years, architects have expressed an increasing interest in
complex geometries, abandoning the use of classical and platonic forms.
While new technological tools and digital environments may help to
represent these geometries, software programs do not necessarily
provide a means of understanding or constructing such complex figures.
The present approach is based on the creation of virtual and physical
models that are essential to understanding and formulating a completely
successful architecture.
The practice offers a synthesis of two approaches: first, the
integration of new technologies into the architectural concept; and
second, the development of new forms and geometries culminating in the
construction of prototypes. Through illustrated examples, clients will
have the possibility of verifying the conception, transformation, and
feasibility of an architectural project based on complex geometries. In
this sense, the approach will be a truly interdisciplinary one,
eliminating the artificial separation between architecture and civil
engineering.”

About W.T. Mitchell's theses on the desire of pictures, the resulting
possibilities of interpretation, his understanding of the critique of
images and his suggestion to conceive pictures as living things.

A conference in three parts, organized at the Staatliche Hochschule für
Bildende Künste – Städelschule, Frankfurt, by the ‘Institut für
Kunstkritik’ (Institute for Art Criticism), founded by Daniel Birnbaum
and Isabelle Graw, in co-operation with the ‘Institut für
Sozialforschung’ (Institute for Social Research).

In der Kantine der Daimlerstr. 32 stellt die Abendschule der
Städelschule Malerei und Grafik zwei ihrer Schüler vor.

Die Ausstellung wird am 23.6.2006 um 20 Uhr mit einem Opernpasticcio
eröffnet und ist bis zum 21.7. zu besichtigen.
Es musizieren: Susanna Maria Kitzl (Sopran), Dominik Hosefelder
(Bariton) und Rita Klose am Klavier
